Crayola Marker Watercolor Stamping Techniques with Penny Black

card 1

Welcome to my week-long Penny Black celebration.  I'm celebrating my GD spot at Penny Black & More and am so happy to share this neat tutorial with you today on using basic craft supplies for stamping projects.  This card was made with so few supplies, and the technique is perfect for beginners and experts alike.

supplies

For the base layer emboss a PB script stamp in white.

markers

Next color your craft mat (you could also use a piece of wax paper) with crayola markers.  I used twice as much red as brown.

puddle

Spritz with water lightly and mix the colors a little with your finger.

background 1

Start dipping your embossed panel into the inks.  Heat set between each dip.

background 2

Here's the second coat.

background 3

And final coat.

background 4

Dip another panel the same way, but with 90% brown and 10% red.  I didn't cover this one completely because I was going for an aged paper look.  Heat set to dry.

background 5

Next color Music Background DTR (directly to the rubber) with the brown marker.  Spritz it lightly and stamp over the aged panel.

Direct to Rubber

Use markers to color Merry Gift DTR.  Spritz before stamping onto a small panel.

stamped image

Make a small puddle of brown ink and dip the stamped panel into it lightly.  Use your finger to blend the ink around the image.

card 2

Distress all the edges and layer with cardboard between each layer or use pop dots/mounting tape.  This card is full of depth with all the layering.

card 3

I hope you'll be inspired to think outside the box today and use something new in your stamp projects.  Grab your Penny Black stamps and create a project with us at Penny Black & More today!  I'm entering my card into the Anything Christmas challenge HERE.
